What Does the Food Sector Demand from Packaging?
In the food sector a box is not merely a carrier; it is a component that directly affects product freshness, hygiene and shelf visibility. Oily baklava and dry simit, a hot ready-meal and a cold packaged product — each demands a different inner surface and closure structure.
A wrong box choice can cause oil leakage, moisture exposure or a shortened shelf life. In addition, boxes with poor offset print quality damage brand perception. The right food box must be designed with a food-friendly inner surface, an outer surface that carries the brand identity, and dimensions matched to product volume.
Konya is a deep-rooted hub in baking and food production. At MFS Packaging we extend our offset-printed corrugated and cardboard box manufacturing experience into the food sector — producing solutions for patisseries, bakers, baklava manufacturers, ready-meal companies and restaurant chains.

Material Options
Material approach we recommend by food category:
Dry food (biscuits, simit, snacks)
Standard cardboard or E-flute corrugated, kraft or white inner surface.
Oily food (baklava, börek, pastries)
Higher oil-resistance inner liner, with laminated lid where needed.
Hot / delivery
Inner liner with higher moisture/heat resistance, tight closure structure.
Premium / gift (sets, baklava, chocolate)
Coated inner surface, matte/gloss lamination, UV varnish, silver-foil option.
An Example from Production
One of our customers, a patisserie chain, shared that the shelf visibility of their existing biscuit boxes was low and that lids deformed during long-distance shipping. The need was to both lift visibility and strengthen structural durability.
First the average product weight, packaging flow and target shelf appearance were reviewed together. A higher-gramage coated cardboard was proposed over the existing structure, with a PET window added on the lid; then product photos in offset print were re-laid out in a cleaner composition.
With the new structure, in-store shelf deformations dropped noticeably, and the purchasing decision sped up because customers could see the product clearly through the window. Brand perception strengthened with the higher print quality.
